  On the road: Danes Horizon: The Land of the Royal Dansks

  As I always say when I review many of these war films from the perspective of another country that’s your usual suspect, I love how they bring new perspective and interesting and/or bleak stories about events and characters that played a role in this whole ordeal, whether as heroes or villains.

  "The Shadow In My Eye" depicts the collateral damage caused by nazi occupation and specifically the disastrous accidental bombing of a school in Copenhagen.

  Very solid from a technical standpoint, maybe too digital at times, but overall visually great with strong heartfelt performances, although the film might have bitten more than it could chew.

  The narrative is all over the place, focusing on too many things, leaving little to no room for proper development, thus the portray of a period full of tragedy and anguish ultimately gets lost in the clutter, and it just never fully establishes its thoughts.

  The brilliant performances from the cast and the visual aspects carry a misfire that its finest aspect might be how it doesn't shy away from the destruction caused by war.

  On March 25th, 1945 the British RAF had one of the worst arial precision strikes ever, targeting Gestapo Headquarters in Copenhagen, Denmark.
  They hit that target but also managed to wrongly target a nearby school and as a result of collateral damage 80 children and 40 adults were killed.
  Even though, Gestapo had placed about 40 captured resistance fighters on the top floor of the building using them as human shields, the Danish resistance had co-operated with the British to stage that raid, because they were worried that the whole resistance operation was about to be blown.

  Existen centenares de películas que buscan retratar la crueldad humana en contextos de guerra siendo que la Segunda Guerra Mundial resuelta ser uno de los episodios históricos más desarrollados por muchos cineastas, The shadow in my eye no es la excepción pero tampoco algo excepcional.
  Como cinta bélica tiene como puntos fuertes su ambientación y sus efectos especiales para hacer más realistas los trágicos eventos que sacudieron a Copenhague a finales de los 40’s.   Todo lo que prosigue a la escena del bombardeo de la escuela, eleva la película a otro nivel, y genuinamente me dió escalofríos por su crudeza. En un momento sociopolítico tan precario como el actual, éste tipo de historias nos permiten confrontar nuestros peores temores; los gobiernos invasivos y despiadados que no dmse detendrán ante nada para conseguir sus objetivos.

  Las actuaciones infantiles son excelentes y los detalles técnicos están muy bien cuidados. Netflix debería hacerle más promoción, es de lo mejor que han sacado éste año.

  I didn’t know about this story, a real nightmare.
  Although this film is narrated in the classic style of the Second War films, it presents a much harder and more serious situation than is usually seen in those films, mainly due to the presence of many children on stage, providing us with a perspective of the war from the child’s perspective and from the maturity of the adults extremely affected at the emotional and mental level.

  The acting is as expected from Denmark superb but this movie goes in all directions with its emotions and story. Maybe if it followed one or two persons this could have worked, this are just too many storylines that don’t fit together.

  The story of this film is brutal and sad. Just the premise of what happened is tragic but the "why" is even worse. It's something that never should of happened and human error is fatal. This story deserved a film.

  But it deserved a better film. To be fair, nothing is exactly wrong with the film. It's a well made film in every aspect. The acting ranges from good to decent and the movie doesn't shy away from violence. And yet, there is something missing. The whole set-up towards the whole tragedy feels shallow in a way. There are many characters introduced and none of them really work for some reason. I slightly cared for them because of what happened…

  A film I blindly picked and didn't know much about but this was such a good film. Emotional and devastating and thrilling and showed a part of history and ww2 I didn't know much about. The film was different for me from a lot of other world war 2 films as this was the perspective of Germany and a bombing that was supposed to land ona nazi building but accidently blows up a school and. The first part of the film shows the characters involved in the bombing including some soldiers and the children and nuns who end up trapped in the building and then it turns into a disaster and rescue film where attempts are made to rescue the children. This was very well directed, acted and had a lot of thrilling moments but also intimate character building moments, spending time with each of the characters even though there's quite a lot of them the film doesn't feel rushed.

  The Shadow in My Eye is one of the most brutal depictions of war I have ever seen. War is cruel, especially to those who don't want it.

  This heart-wrenching story devastated me like few movies ever did. The powerful acting & score are just flawless in creating this atmosphere of deep sadness & confusion.

  The way this film tackles the role of God in all of this is rather interesting. It's too easy to blame God for our own mistakes and here this is shown in a profoundly traumatic way.

  Overall, The Shadow in My Eye is surely one of those unforgettable experiences that scar your soul forever.
