A beautiful woman with an extraordinary soul.
Shelia Kay Spencer, 55, long time resident of Morgantown, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 25th, 2024 at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown.
Born September 12th 1968, in Parkersburg, WV, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Arlan Doak of Crownsville, Maryland. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister Kathy Doak.
She is survived by her loving mother, Simone Mona (Vantell) Doak of Crownsville, MD; her devoted husband of 28 years, Keith Spencer; her sister, Patty Potter; her children, Jacqueline Sheree Gonyer, Brittany and Chris Ledger, and Ryan and Zerica Spencer; and her grandchildren Livia, Jermaine, Lilah, Levi, Novah and Lainie.
Shelia lived her life to put smiles on faces and laughter in the air of anyone she encountered. A true comedian! A die-hard mountaineer fan. Her story was, she had a WVU patch on her heart from a childhood surgery at Ruby. And of course she bled Blue and Gold!
She was a healer, helping everyone, animals included. Her work with Messages For Hope was one of her greatest achievements, giving her tremendous joy. She had battled and overcome so much in her life, including cancer twice.
Weathering every storm saying I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Philippians 4:13.
She was a fighter and would say thatโs just the Mountaineer running through her veins. But the love she had for her children and grandchildren is what really pushed her to fight. And being a NeNe was her most treasured role in this life. Her fight is now over and she is at peace. Death is not the end but yet the beginning of our eternal journey.
