Characteristics of Piglins

Probably the most important characteristic of the Piglins is their love for gold. They love everything that is made of gold or that is related to gold. Piglins will drop everything for gold, even trading higher value Netherite or Diamond armor for gold armor.

The simplest zombified piglin farm is to dig a 3x3x1 trench and make a layer of dirt leaving a 1 block space. Shoot zombified piglins and swipe at them with a sword on their legs after they jumped into the trench. Turn on subtitles, so you can hear when you can come out.

Despite being ruthless creatures only entertained by the prospect of getting more and more gold, Piglins do have things they fear. More specifically, they're absolutely terrified of soul fire, which is a blue variant of regular fire found in soul sand valley biomes.

If the player distracts them with a gold item and equips a piece of gold armor while the piglin is examining the item, then the piglin ceases hostility.

Piglins are neutral mobs that spawn in crimson forests, nether wastes, and bastion remnants. Piglins are also armed with crossbows and gold swords. An easy way to make them friendly with you is to wear any piece of gold armor.

Similarly to obsidian, crying obsidian is a resilient building block. It has a blast resistance of 1,200. In addition, it cannot be destroyed by the ender dragon. It is used to make the respawn anchor, a block that has the function of letting players respawn in the Nether.

Baby piglins do not grow up, never hold weapons or attack, and take gold without giving anything in return.

Piglins have a ¹⁰⁄₄₅₉ (4.27) chance to barter 3-4 ender pearls when given a gold ingot.

Pigs. A zombified piglin spawns when lightning strikes within 4 blocks of a pig. If the pig is a piglet, it then transforms into a baby zombified piglin.

How do zombie piglins spawn? ›

Spawning. Zombified piglins can spawn in nether wastes, crimson forests, nether portals, from pigs struck by lightning, or from piglins or piglin brutes in the Overworld or in the End. They have a 5% chance of spawning as baby zombified piglins. Zombified piglins do not spawn on top of nether wart blocks.

The bartering process will attract more piglins. So keep throwing gold ingot and create a bartering party!

Piglins are known to attack any player with no gold equipment. They'll also attack players who attack other Piglins or Pigline Brutes. They'll also attack you if you break/open any of the items listed below. If you break any type of Gold Ore around them, that'll provoke them into attacking you.

You can cure a zombified piglin by using a splash potion of weakness and a golden apple. The process produces the same sound effects and particles as when attempting to cure a zombie villager. The cure time can be adjusted in the configuration.

Drops. A piglin brute has 8.5% chance of dropping a golden axe with a random durability if killed by a player or a tamed wolf, increased by 1% with each level of Looting, with a total 11.5% chance with Looting III.

Players will quickly need to find a huge chunk of land inside which they can hide. Once players successfully hide themselves completely, they must dig further down and away from open land where any zombified piglin can detect them. This will take care of both the conditions that make them angry.

To barter with a piglin, either throw by dropping a gold ingot near an adult piglin or use a gold ingot on it. After the piglin takes the gold ingot and examines it for six seconds in Java Edition or eight seconds in Bedrock Edition, it tosses a random item to the player.
