I had Amanda last semester (Fall 2024), but I never got around to rating her. We had clear rubrics and expectations for the essays we wrote, and she always gave good feedback. She's very friendly, bubbly, and easy to talk to if you need some help.I would recommend her classes to anyone and everyone.

Work and papers were not that difficult but the lectures in class were very distracting and often unrelated with non-stop references to random bits of literature. If you miss a class the only way to make it up is to send her notes on the lecture that you DIDN'T ATTEND. Also if you miss 5 classes you get dropped from the class.

Very caring and willing to have a conversation (especially about Shakespeare!). Grading was reasonable and the lectures were both interesting and important/relevant to the essays. Let us pick the topic for two of the essays, which was great.

I only had 4 essays every 3.5 weeks. Which doesn't seem like a lot, but her lectures are very uninformative and for an hour and 15 minutes class, the class is very boring. Each essay is worth 15% and Peer Review is 7.5% with the End of Term Portfolio being 10%. Over all 60% of your grade is Essays and 30% being Peer Review.

Mainly consists of multiple big papers. She gives ample feedback, has good references, and is very fun. 100% would recommend. If you actually try to write well, you'll have no problem getting an A.

Professor Odom has a very well-structured class. Grading criteria are clear, and she gives good feedback. She is very timely in grading and responding to emails. She is also kind, funny, and incredibly knowledgeable on a wide variety of subjects. Class is writing-heavy, of course, but she spaces the content out and rough drafts are an easy 100%.

I really enjoyed taking Amanda's class. Her lectures are structured, move at a reasonable pace, and are never boring. She's well-stocked with pop culture references that help a great deal with synthesizing some tougher concepts. The workload isn't too much, the grading criteria is clear and consistent, and she's very accessible outside of class.

Amanda might not be the most tech-savvy professor out there, but she sure as heck cares about her students! She didn't require a textbook for the class, and is quick to answer any questions. As others have mentioned, her passion for pop culture is highly admirable, and I found my shared interest of it kept me engaged. Nerds, unite! Writing Lab <3

I really enjoyed her class, she is nice, helpful, and organized. Class moves quickly and her lectures arent boring. Show up, do the work and you'll pass, especially if you show progress. A few easy points of extra credit here and there. Not the easiest but I feel like her class improved my writing. Would not hesitate signing up with her again.

Loved the class and prof. She inspired me to read again after I had had a bad experience in another lit class. She did not grade on many thing. She did grade fairly. Attendance is necessary, or you will miss the vocab and key terms. she was a lot of fun! I really enjoyed her class and hope I can take from her again in the future!! She was very fun!

She is an awesome teacher and wonderful human being! She makes sure you understand your assignments and is always open to questions during and outside of class. Amanda replies quickly to emails and is very easy going. I would definately recommend taking any of her classes.

While there are only a few things to be graded on in this class, it can be pretty tough if you aren't a good essay writer. I got a D on one of five papers and my grade suffered for it. Amanda is easy to talk to and is willing to help her students out if they are having difficulties.

English 121 was a very clear-cut and easy class in my opinion. Amanda is really funny and very up to date with pop culture without coming off as tacky. She grades fairly and assigns papers with plenty of feedback and time in advance for every student to get an A.
